"Practice makes perfect... I don't advocate perfection but I do believe that practice, and more practice, will help with your drawing skills - this is one of the aims of these challenges!" - Joanne Deaker
Do you want too...
practice drawing so you can improve your skills?
take a fun challenge where you draw a variety of objects with me, over a series of consecutive days?
learn to enjoy the process of drawing (rather than focusing too much on the end result)?
Then these challenges were designed for you! A drawing challenge consists of a series of daily emails from me (professional artist, Joanne Deaker), each contains a printable pic file of a simple object to draw and a 7-15min video demonstration of me drawing the object. You use the pic to create a quick no fuss drawing (in a suggested time of 15-30 minutes). You can choose to either have a go at the drawing on your own and watch my video demonstration later OR you can follow along and draw with my video demonstration, stopping and starting the video as required. Videos (unless specified), DO NOT contain verbal instruction (if you'd prefer this, please see my courses). They are available to rewatch as often as you like for at least a year from purchase. Below is a 60x sped up example of a video (day 9 of the 30 Day Drawing Challenge).
What you need...
an A4 sized sketch pad
a pencil (2B recommended)
an eraser (a putty or kneadable eraser is recommended or you could cut up a plastic eraser)
a pencil sharpener
a printer to print the pics, or a tablet/computer to display them
a 'give it a go' attitude!
You have the option to join our private facebook group "Uplifted by ART - Closed Group" - where you can post your drawings and receive encouragement from myself and other members. Additionally you may like to join my facebook page "Uplifted by ART". Here I post drawing inspiration, drawings, notifications of upcoming challenges/courses, drawing tips etc.
“Thoroughly enjoyed this challenge. Never knowing what was coming up each morning became exciting, losing oneself mentally, great therapy!! Thank you Joanne…” Lesley. P
30 DAY DRAWING CHALLENGE
This challenge is:
Great practice for those wanting to improve their drawing skills (especially as this one gets progressively more challenging)
A fabulous way to learn to enjoy the process of drawing (and experience the joy of drawing!)
As you progress through the 30 days of this challenge, the objects become more challenging to draw, starting with the first 10 days being the simplest (this was formerly called the 'Bronze' challenge*), then the next 10, a little more challenging, then culminating in the last 10 days which are the most challenging.
Each video is 10 or so minutes long and shows me creating a drawing of the relevant pic (note: I am NOT trying to create a perfect drawing and am simply demonstrating how I would go about drawing the object. Challenges are all about having a go and enjoying the process of drawing and NOT about attaining perfection through the end result!)
This challenge is available to start within a few minutes of purchase (click on shop button below):
* If you have previously completed the bronze challenge (Note: this is no longer available), you may prefer to jump ahead to the last 20 days of the 30 Day Drawing Challenge...you can do so by purchasing this challenge here.
"I have thoroughly enjoyed this challenge. Every morning I can't wait to open my emails to see what 'todays' drawing will be. Thank you Joanne for offering this challenge" - Shona McLaren "I am enjoying them (the daily drawing challenges) and wait in anticipation as to what will be next." Margaret Hore. " I am thoroughly enjoying this 30 day challenge. I'm so pleased I did the other course first. I'm using a lot of the skills you taught us then. I especially find the warm up exercises most helpful." Camille Alabaster "I love the variety of items to draw" Jo F.
21 DAY MIXED DRAWING CHALLENGE
A BRAND NEW 21 day mixed level challenge is available NOW. Unlike, the 30 Day Challenge, this one contains some verbal instruction for some of the more challenging objects. Additionally this is a mixed level challenge throughout (with no specific progression).
* If you are looking for full instruction take a look at my "Drawing for Everyone Online Foundation Course" - this covers the skills of drawing through the use of fun projects and, if you chose the 'Premium' option, you will receive individualized feedback from me on your project drawings. This is the very best way to learn the fabulous skill of drawing.
