"What a great night. I haven’t picked up a paint brush for 30yrs+ and would say I can’t paint. But I did and it even turned out ok. Joanne was great at demystifying each step. A couple of wines helped too. The kids were most impressed with my creation. I’d definitely do it again." Nikki L, Cromwell,
Like taking a painting class on steroids!!!Painting Events are designed as fun events for anyone with a 'give it a go' attitude. Over the course of a few hours, you are taken step by step through the process of creating an artwork, that you can then take home. All materials are supplied (a quality canvas and the use of good quality acrylic paint, paint brushes and easels). While these events are not actually 'full on serious' painting classes, it is my hope that you will learn something from them! They are run by me, in collaboration with venue providers who have available food and drinks which can be purchased in breaks between creating. The first two events were held at Wooing Tree, the next three were held in collaboration with Amigos/Bargarita in Cromwell. The next event will be held at the Cromwell Town and Country Club. The event fee is $75/person (includes ALL painting materials). Minimum numbers apply. Food/drink is a separate cost.
Tempted? Advertising for these events is minimal. There is a absolute maximum of 20 participants (less for some venues)...so if you'd like to come to a future event, please join the event notification list (click button above), and you'll receive an email and/or text about upcoming events including advance notice of event registration. Alternatively, if you are able to get together a group of 10-20 people and preferably find a suitable venue you are welcome to contact me about a potential event. I will also eventually create online classes based on these events so that's always an option if you miss out and want to try out a class in your own home.

"Celebrating central" 28/5/2018
This event was held at Bargarita in Cromwell on a Monday evening. This proved to be a lovely warm and light space on an evening marked by sub-zero temperatures outside! Amigoes provided us with delicious food and drink, to order. I took the group through the creation of a landscape painting, inspired by the Pisa range and Lake Dunstan in Cromwell. The majority of the group hadn't held a paint brush since school so they started off a little nervous, but soon relaxed and enjoyed themselves, ending up becoming pleasantly surprised with the awesome artworks they produced.
Feedback: "I liked the fact that we who had never painted before could turn out this mountain scene, Joanne is an excellent teacher, lots of fun and great results".Chris S. "If you have never painted and always wanted to try, come along" Deborah Reece "I most liked doing something I haven't done for 30 years. A great evening to be with other creative people, doing something different" Jamie Bruning. "I liked that the event was relaxed, no pressure and informative. Highly recommend giving it a go and getting "out of your comfort zone" Barbara Young "I liked the relaxed friendly manner of Jo and the friendliness of the other participants. Step by step made the event easy, it was relaxed and good to have food and drink available" Mary O. "I enjoyed having a fun evening learning something new in a nice environment" Britta S. "It was enjoyable and not daunting. A fantastic thing to try" Tanya B. "I liked all of the event, but especially liked learning particular techniques and why they are used. It was great fun to learn a new skill" Sian Fiebig. "Friendly and relaxed. A fun evening with a feeling of accomplishment at the end". Rowena Dunnet.
"stone cottage encore" 18/6/2018
This was a repeat of the same design used in "Painting in Vines 2" (above) for those that missed out on the previous event. It was held on a Monday night at Bargarita in Cromwell on a slightly less chilly night than the previous event! An awesome array of artwork was produced by all.
Painting event 9/9/2019 bargarita
I enjoyed taking this lovely group of people through the new design I created 'NZ Falcon'. This was another example of how anyone with a 'give it a go' attitude can have a lot of fun creating an amazing painting. It's just a matter of being taken through the skills of how to do it, and focusing on the enjoyment of the process. Thank you to Bargarita for providing the venue and to Amigos for providing delicious food and drink to purchase.
